ABOUT
Sandra Suarez is a Mexican-American director, writer and animator currently residing in Los Angeles, California.She enjoys the challenge of mixing 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation in her film projects.Sandra strives to create stories that explore the messiness of life and encourage kindness to oneself and others. Her projects range from silly, wacky and weird to introspective and sincere.When she's not making art, she likes traveling with her family, playing with her orange tabby cat, and learning about 60s rock and roll bands.
DIRECTOR
THE CURSED HACIENDA (2022)In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month, directed and animated a stop-motion and 2D animated promotional video for the US television channel SYFY.ROOTS (2024)Wrote and directed a stop-motion and 2D animated short film called "Roots." The project won the LFI Fellowship sponsored by Netflix and had a special screening June 2024 at the TCL Chinese Theaters.
WRITER
YOUNG SCREENWRITERS (2020-2021)Learned how to write short films and features with NYU professor John Warren and alumni Alexie Basil in their online courses during the COVID-19 lockdown. Participated in mock writer's rooms developing a TV series and an anthology series.ROOTS (2024)Learned the process of writing and re-writing for 2 animation mediums and collaborating with story artists.
